If you are already on campus or have been to campus lately you might have noticed that change is in the air literally with the recent upgrade of the wireless infrastructure across campus. We are in the final stages of the upgrade and plan to be complete on September 10th. The new environment boasts more than double the number of access points to increase coverage; 802.11n bandwidth for faster speed; and enhanced security with WPA2 encryption. The new wireless networks appear as “airfalcon”, "bguest" and "gamefalcon". The older networks "campus" and "guest" will be completely phased out by September 10th.
The new networks support 802.11n and 802.11g technologies. Most notebook computers and handheld devices manufactured within the last five years support at least one of these protocols. Older devices supporting 802.11b will not connect.
What Network Should I Use?

airfalcon
Is a high-speed security-enabled network designed for Bentley faculty, staff and students, all of whom receive a network account. Data traveling on the network is encrypted under the WPA2 specification. All Bentley managed notebook computers (Faculty, Student, & Staff) running Vista that have connected to a Bentley network since September 4, 2009 have been configured to automatically connect to the airfalcon network. Please follow the instructions below if you have a Bentley notebook and it has not been on a Bentley network since Sept 4th.
bguest
Is an unsecure private network designed for your campus guests to access the internet. Many internal resources are not available from this network, such as Bentley e-mail, library databases, and network drives. Enter the bguest username and password. Both are case sensitive and are lowercase. Visit Falcon Find IT or call the Computing Services Desk for bguest username and password. Bentley user accounts are not accepted. All guests must adhere to the Policies Governing Technology Resources at Bentley when using the bguest network or any other Bentley resources.
gamefalcon
Designed to allow wireless gaming consoles access to the network. gamefalcon is available in dorms only! Students interested in registering their wireless gaming consoles on the gamefalcon should contact the Computing Services Desk. You will need to provide the following information: dorm room, mac address of wireless gaming console, description of device (X-box, WII), and phone number where we can reach you.
