10/20/09 - Critical Adobe Reader Security Update
Adobe has recently released important security updates for Adobe Reader. The new version is 9.2.0
We consider this to be a critically important security update, as Adobe Reader has been the source of virus infection for hundreds of computers on campus over the past year.
Updating Adobe Reader to 9.2.0 is the best defense against becoming infected.
To obtain this update:
If you are currently on Adobe Reader version 9.1 or higher, follow the steps below:
·Simply open the version of Adobe Reader currently on your computer.
·Click on the word “Help” on the top toolbar, and click on the option to “Check for Updates”.
·After a brief pause, click on the button to “Download and Install Updates”.
If you are running a version of Adobe Reader older than 9.1, or are unsure of which version you have:
·Visit www.adobe.com.
·Click the button labeled “Get Adobe Reader”
·Uncheck the option to install the “Free MacAfee Security Scan”.
·Click on the “Download” button.
